So often the Master Artist
Just wants us to admit,
That in the mosaic that is our life
We can’t see how the pieces all fit,
For the Master mixes the brightest day
Along with the darkest night,
To make things work for our ultimate good
Turning dark into marvelous light,
And the fragments of life that we think don’t fit
That we want to just cast away,
May be the pieces Christ uses most
To set His glory on display,
For those fragile pieces of heart and soul
That the world tries to splinter and break,
Turn into diamonds in the Master’s hand
And He never makes a mistake,
Because Christ can take our hands and feet
Along with our heart, mind and soul,
And make vessels of clay a masterpiece,
If we’ll only relinquish control.
