They led Him away bound with chains,
\nTo the mob gathered by the High Priest,
\nThe ones who the very night before,
\nCelebrated the Passover feast.<\/p>\n
He faced off against His accusers alone,
\nFor His friends had forsaken and fled,
\nThe High Priest deemed Him deserving of death,
\nLong before any words had been said.<\/p>\n
The leaders thought they were in control,
\nThat by killing Christ they would soon win,
\nBlind to the fact that they were on trial,
\nAnd that they were condemned in their sin.<\/p>\n
They angrily questioned Him and accused,
\nClaiming blasphemy, treason and lies,
\nWhile He spoke not a word to defend Himself,
\nFor He knew He was pure in God\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n
They cried out, “Are You the Son of God?”
\nJesus said, “You say rightly I am.”
\nBy those words He sealed His destiny,
\nOf becoming God\u2019s sacrifice Lamb.<\/p>\n
The God who created all mankind,
\nChose to lay down His life to atone,
\nAnd endured the penalty for our sin,
\nSo that we would not face death alone.<\/p>\n
