Some invest in stocks and bonds
\nOthers stockpile real estate,
\nSome tie their fortunes to this fleeting world
\nAlong with their lives and fate.<\/p>\n
Some squirrel and horde earthly wealth
\nClinging to it with all their might,
\nSome can’t get it off their troubled minds
\nAnd worry about it all through the night.<\/p>\n
Some scheme, some dream and others steal
\nIn an effort to get further ahead,
\nSome hope to land the ultimate deal
\nOr inherit wealth from the dead.<\/p>\n
Some think that just a little more
\nWould cure all earthly woes,
\n“Cash is king” the masses sing
\nAs the well worn saying goes.<\/p>\n
But the wealthiest Man to ever live
\nHad no earthly home nor a bed,
\nHe had no comfortable nest like the birds
\nTo rest His weary head.<\/p>\n
His accountant was an acknowledged thief
\nA tax collector part of His band,
\nHe had no money in His moneybag
\nWhile He spoke of a heavenly land.<\/p>\n
He preached that you can’t serve two masters
\nYou must choose between God or wealth,
\nOne leads to spiritual atrophy
\nThe other to spiritual health.<\/p>\n
He preached that the truest blessing
\nWas to givers not those who receive,
\nThat His Father had beautiful mansions above
\nIf we trust Him, love Him, believe<\/p>\n
Jesus the Father’s beloved Son,
\nWho made all that we can and can’t see,
\nLaid down His life and His glory
\nTo make us rich for eternity.<\/p>\n
So if you’re burned out on the treadmill of life
\nChasing after mirages that fade,
\nTurn your eyes to Calvary’s cross,
\nAnd thank Christ for the price that He paid.<\/p>\n
