\nChrist proclaimed in Gethsemane\u2019s garden,
\nSolemnly knowing what He had to do,
\nTo purchase the sinner\u2019s full pardon.<\/p>\n
His sweat became mingled with life-giving blood,
\nOn that night of most anguished prayer,
\nHis friends fast slept from weariness,
\nThough Christ had told them beware.<\/p>\n
The crowd pressed in with weapons and swords,
\nTo bind the One truly free Man,
\nThey thought it was they who were in control,
\nUnaware of God\u2019s purpose and plan.<\/p>\n
They approached Him by cover of darkness,
\nSinful hearts filled with evil intent,
\nBent on destroying the sinless Man,
\nWho through grace and by mercy was sent.<\/p>\n
They called out, \u201cWe come seeking Jesus,\u201d
\nHis reply in return, \u201cI Am,\u201d
\nCaused all to fall down in confusion and fear,
\nAt the power of God\u2019s Passover Lamb.<\/p>\n
Christ could have chosen much differently,
\nMighty angels stood by to defend,
\nBut by drinking the bitter and deadly cup,
\nHis death would bring life in the end.<\/p>\n
