Humble Fool

I take it as a badge of honor,
To suffer reproach for His name,
For I believe every word He says,
Every promise, command and claim.

While His words may not be in fashion,
And many might think them uncool,
It rather be true to the word of Christ,
And be thought a humble fool.

MT 2020

1Co 1:18  NKJV
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

A Theist

I am a theist
And make no apologies
I believe in Jesus Christ
Not man-made ideologies
Nor in man’s speculation
Nor his pop psychologies
For only Christ can cleanse the heart
Of sin and social pathologies.

MT 2020

Colossians 2:8 NKJV

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

I Listened

I sat beside a friend of mine,
And listened to his tale of lament,
I didn’t say many profound words,
And later asked the Lord why I was sent,
He replied in return, “You did what I asked,”
“You listened and you were a friend,”
“You were an extension of me and I am pleased,”
“By the listening ear that you lend.”

Jas 1:19  NKJV
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

Contemplation

A wise man takes both good and bad,
And learns from each situation,

As he talks them over with the all wise God,

Then acts from his contemplation.

Proverbs 2:6 NKJV

[6] For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;

Called

We are called to something more noble,

We are called to a much greater cause,

We are called to a much more meaningful life,

Than to live for man’s praise and applause.

We are called to serve the true Master,

We are called to follow His lead,

We are called to stand up for the poor and oppressed,

We are called to help others in need.

Black and Blue / Walk

Black and Blue

Piercing nails and crown of thorns,
The flesh torn from His back,
The Father could endure no more,
And turned the blue sky black.

Walk

Christ delivered us out of darkness,
Into His marvelous light,
And what He asks us in return,
Is walk by faith and not sight.

Going Against

It often takes a bigger man
To say no rather than yes,
To go against the grain of the world
To seek God and His righteousness,
For the better part of wisdom
Is being humble, kind and meek,
Knowing when to hold your peace
And when to stand up and speak.
