Stand Alone Stanzas

Insufficient

Thank you seems so inadequate,
My loftiest speech insufficient,
To convey the depth of my gratitude,
To Lord God Almighty Omniscient.

Inexhaustible

Neither mankind’s most beautiful eloquence,
Nor man’s loftiest words could exhaust,
The example of grace and selfless love,
Christ displayed when He suffered the cross.

Fellow Pilgrim

Is your soul now being sifted,
By various troubles and trials?
Even Peter succumbed to temptation,
He forcefully made three denials.
Is the enemy shouting lies in your ear?
Christ’s word will silence his wiles!
Does the world revile and mistreat you
Though you’ve gone the extra mile?
You’re in very fine company,
John and Paul both faced earthly exile.
So don’t give up- keep up the fight,
While despair may be in style,
You will soon feel the Savior’s loving embrace
Just patiently wait for awhile.

Build Wisely

I spent the first half of my life
Chasing everything but You,
And looking back at my prodigal past
I now see that Your Words are all true,
Time lays waste every kingdom and castle
Not built on, by, and for You,
We can choose which foundation we’ll build on
We can build on the Rock or on sand,
We can heed the Words of a loving God
Or the volumes penned by man’s hand,
For God’s Word endures forever
Every promise, purpose, command,
And when fierce storms of life come beating down
Only lives built on Christ will stand.

The Missing Key

Why can’t we humans get along
Why do we strive and fight?
Could it be deep down inside
That something is just not right ?
Why do we feel entitled
Like life should treat us fair?
But who determines right and wrong
To what do we compare?
Is there anyone in this broken world
Who holds the missing key?
To release us from our prison cells
Who can stop our enmity?
Yes there is One I know His name
I walk with Him each day,
He takes away fear and anxiety
That the world tries to throw my way,
So if you truly want to know
How life was meant to be,
The answers are found in Jesus Christ
And the Godhead Trinity.

His Heart’s Desire

The King rode toward Jerusalem,
On the back of a donkey’s foal,
The masses thought He came to rule,
And to give them back control,
But as He reached Jerusalem,
He wept- they did not understand,
His mission was to set captives free,
Not from Rome but from Satan’s cruel hand,
The King could have set up His kingdom on earth,
In an instant- in the blink of an eye,
But He wanted instead to reign in man’s heart,
So alone He walked Calvary to die.

Beautiful Mess

So often when I look around,
I’m perplexed and must confess,
It is hard to see what You’re doing,
In the midst of this beautiful mess.

For Your thoughts and Your ways are above me,
And my thoughts human words can’t express,
When I can’t see through tears what You’re doing,
In the midst of this beautiful mess.

Then I kneel in awe at Your glorious throne,
And worship, praise and profess,
That You are good and in control,
In the midst of this beautiful mess.

Two Gates

The Good Shepherd lovingly calls us,
Enter the narrow gate,
The broad path leads to destruction,
Turn away- don’t suffer that fate,
My way can often be difficult,
But I lead with a purpose and plan,
I desire to prosper not hurt you,
Just trust Me and reach out your hand,
In My presence there is fullness of joy,
There are pleasures forevermore,
Behold I stand at the gate of your heart,
My child will you open the door?
