Provision

The One who owns the whole universe,
Was born in a borrowed stall,
To set us free from the enemy,
And the curse of mankind’s fall.

At the Lord’s earthly dedication,
To His heavenly Abba above,
All His family had to offer God,
Was a lowly turtle dove.

When His family was called to flee,
From the wrath of a murderous king,
God provided for His beloved Son,
By the treasures three wise men would bring.

God’s precious and priceless gift to men,
Life’s Author, the universe Builder,
Was sold as a common criminal,
For a paltry few pieces of silver.

At His death a rich man’s kindness,
Provided place for His body to rest,
But of all the kings who have walked this earth,
He was richer and exceedingly blessed.

Triumphant Tragedy

I’ve bowed down before the gods of this age
More times than I care to admit,
Given in to seductive siren songs
Made my bed in hell’s deepest pit.

I’ve crashed on this world’s treacherous shore
Felt the full weight of darkness and sin,
Then in anguish cried, “Jesus please save me!”
And in mercy The Holy came in.

Now fear and despair are behind me
I’m no longer lonely and lost,
For Jesus is mine and I am His
And His praise I could never exhaust!

Going Against

It often takes a bigger man
To say no rather than yes,
To go against the grain of the world
To seek God and His righteousness,
For the better part of wisdom
Is being humble, kind and meek,
Knowing when to hold your peace
And when to stand up and speak.

Exactly as Planned

The wealthiest, wisest Man,
Who ever walked the earth,
Was born in a borrowed stable,
Laid in straw at His royal birth.

But the bright angelic choir,
Knew the wonder of what God had done,
The rescue God planned before time began,
Was set in motion by the birth of His Son.

Stand-alone Stanzas

Dry eyes often mask the pain inside,
The shame and stain of sin,
The hurt we so often try to hide,
The battle we find so hard to win.

Life and creation,
Exhibit Christ’s glory,
His life on this earth,
Was the Father’s love story.

Christ’s birth showed us heaven’s door
His crucifixion provided the key
His resurrection opened wide heaven’s gates
For lost sinners like you and me

I stand in awe,
And kneel in wonder,
At the Lord of lightning,
And the God of thunder.

Charting the Course

We chart the course of our destiny
By setting our sights above,
Walking with God in humility
And with our fellow man in love,
For our vessels are weak and the storms often fierce
That threaten to shipwreck our soul,
And gale force winds of trouble and pain
Often batter and take their toll,
But keeping our eyes on the Bright Morning Star
The voyage grows clearer each day,
For He guides us to heaven’s beautiful shore
Calming storms that we face on the way,
And when we reach the heavenly port
And Christ calls us, “Beloved, enter in!”
How to thank the Captain of our souls enough,
We won’t even know where to begin!

Friend or foe?

The enemy plots to control the minds,
And hearts and souls of men,
To tell them what to say and do,
And why and where and when.

But we all have the will and ability,
To make the one truly great choice,
To follow Jesus as Savior and Lord,
And not heed the enemy’s voice.

For you can choose your allegiance
You can follow the Friend or the foe,
one wants your death and destruction,
One loves you and wants to make whole.
