His Heart’s Desire

The King rode toward Jerusalem,
On the back of a donkey’s foal,
The masses thought He came to rule,
And to give them back control,
But as He reached Jerusalem,
He wept- they did not understand,
His mission was to set captives free,
Not from Rome but from Satan’s cruel hand,
The King could have set up His kingdom on earth,
In an instant- in the blink of an eye,
But He wanted instead to reign in man’s heart,
So alone He walked Calvary to die.

Beautiful Mess

So often when I look around,
I’m perplexed and must confess,
It is hard to see what You’re doing,
In the midst of this beautiful mess.

For Your thoughts and Your ways are above me,
And my thoughts human words can’t express,
When I can’t see through tears what You’re doing,
In the midst of this beautiful mess.

Then I kneel in awe at Your glorious throne,
And worship, praise and profess,
That You are good and in control,
In the midst of this beautiful mess.

Two Gates

The Good Shepherd lovingly calls us,
Enter the narrow gate,
The broad path leads to destruction,
Turn away- don’t suffer that fate,
My way can often be difficult,
But I lead with a purpose and plan,
I desire to prosper not hurt you,
Just trust Me and reach out your hand,
In My presence there is fullness of joy,
There are pleasures forevermore,
Behold I stand at the gate of your heart,
My child will you open the door?

Provision

The One who owns the whole universe,
Was born in a borrowed stall,
To set us free from the enemy,
And the curse of mankind’s fall.

At the Lord’s earthly dedication,
To His heavenly Abba above,
All His family had to offer God,
Was a lowly turtle dove.

When His family was called to flee,
From the wrath of a murderous king,
God provided for His beloved Son,
By the treasures three wise men would bring.

God’s precious and priceless gift to men,
Life’s Author, the universe Builder,
Was sold as a common criminal,
For a paltry few pieces of silver.

At His death a rich man’s kindness,
Provided place for His body to rest,
But of all the kings who have walked this earth,
He was richer and exceedingly blessed.

Triumphant Tragedy

I’ve bowed down before the gods of this age
More times than I care to admit,
Given in to seductive siren songs
Made my bed in hell’s deepest pit.

I’ve crashed on this world’s treacherous shore
Felt the full weight of darkness and sin,
Then in anguish cried, “Jesus please save me!”
And in mercy The Holy came in.

Now fear and despair are behind me
I’m no longer lonely and lost,
For Jesus is mine and I am His
And His praise I could never exhaust!

Going Against

It often takes a bigger man
To say no rather than yes,
To go against the grain of the world
To seek God and His righteousness,
For the better part of wisdom
Is being humble, kind and meek,
Knowing when to hold your peace
And when to stand up and speak.

Exactly as Planned

The wealthiest, wisest Man,
Who ever walked the earth,
Was born in a borrowed stable,
Laid in straw at His royal birth.

But the bright angelic choir,
Knew the wonder of what God had done,
The rescue God planned before time began,
Was set in motion by the birth of His Son.
