allHis - because it is!

at the foot of the cross

Why

Why is Christ worthy to be called the Lord?
With wide wonder I ponder the ways;
He’s the Prince of Peace and Lord of Life
Who with fervor goes after the strays.

Why do I love the Savior so?
Oh the ways are too numerous to count;
Were the whole world mine as a gift to give
It would be an insufficient amount.

Why do I cling to my Saviors side
Forsaking things I once held dear?
It’s because I’ve found Someone of infinite worth
The Great Savior who saved me from fear.

Why do I follow a God I can’t see,
And seek to walk in His steps?
It’s because He’s exceedingly gracious to me
I’m a child that He loves and accepts.

Heaven’s High King

His eyes are like brightest starlight
Piercing yet gentle and clear,
Though the heavens cannot contain Him
To the humble He gladly draws near,

Washed

By the precious blood of Jesus,
Like a lamb without blemish or spot,
He redeemed us from our sinful ways,
That the world and our selfishness taught.

Though our sins be as scarlet and crimson,
By His blood we are washed white as wool,
His presence to cleanse and to heal us,
His peace to restore and make whole.

Our pardon was purchased on Calvary,
A new covenant sealed by His blood,
What we could not do, He did for us,
When He wash away sin like a flood.

Fear not said our Great God and Savior,
To approach the great Father above,
It’s His pleasure to give you the kingdom,
Tender mercies and unfailing love.

We are beckoned- approach the throne boldly,
Our entrance secured through the cross,
No matter how small, or great the request,
Not one word is forgotten or lost.

True Health and Wealth

Some invest in stocks and bonds
Others stockpile real estate,
Some tie their fortunes to this fleeting world
Along with their lives and fate.

Some squirrel and horde earthly wealth
Clinging to it with all their might,
Some can’t get it off their troubled minds
And worry about it all through the night.

Some scheme, some dream and others steal
In an effort to get further ahead,
Some hope to land the ultimate deal
Or inherit wealth from the dead.

Some think that just a little more
Would cure all earthly woes,
“Cash is king” the masses sing
As the well worn saying goes.

But the wealthiest Man to ever live
Had no earthly home nor a bed,
He had no comfortable nest like the birds
To rest His weary head.

Not in Vain

What I once thought an exhausting wrestling match
I now see as God’s loving embrace,
I once thought it was I holding on for dear life
I now see I am held by God’s grace.

For so many years I’ve cried torrents of tears
And thought they were poured out in vain,
But God stored each one up in a bottle
And used anguish of soul for great gain.

So please dear Christian don’t give up
Even when things seem hopeless and dark,
For  Christ can set the whole world ablaze,
With a smoldering wick and one spark.

Inexhaustible

Mankind’s most beautiful eloquence
Nor loftiest words could exhaust,
The example of grace and selfless love,
Christ displayed when He suffered the cross.

True Wisdom

It often takes a bigger man
To say no rather than yes,
To go against the grain of the world,
To seek God and His righteousness.

The better part of wisdom
Is being humble, kind and meek,
Knowing when to hold your peace,
And when to stand up and speak.
