What Did I Do?

What did I do to deserve a God,
As patient and loving as You?
Nothing is the word that comes to mind,
It’s because You are faithful and true.
What did You ever see in my life,
Except for the wreckage and mess?
Lord I’m so glad to have a God like You,
Who is moved by my pain and distress.

What did I ever do dear Lord,
To deserve such wondrous grace?
Such lavish love and mercy,
That You willingly died in my place?
Why did You grant such great favor,
To one so unworthy as I?
Praise, glory and honor to Jesus,
Is my joyful and humble reply.

Brand New

God’s peace can conquer
The storms within,
His love can bridge
The gulf of sin,
His joy can lighten
The heaviest heart,
His grace can give us
A brand new start.

By a Child Reconciled

A meek and mild child in a manger,
Reconciled to God the enemy and stranger,
By humble beginning and in lowly birth,
God’s priceless gift came down to bless earth.

As angels announced the glorious news,
And prophesies tied together the clues,
The One to come would be Savior God King,
A foretaste of heaven- peace on earth He would bring!

An Audience of One

So often I seek the approval of men,
Instead of an audience of One,
The Christ who heals broken hearts and lives,
And everything under the sun.

So often I seek the acceptance of man,
To fill the deep need of my soul,
But relying on what men say about me,
In the end take a heavy toll.

But Christ calls to tired and weary ones,
“Come to Me I will give your soul rest,”
“My child it is I who fashioned your heart,”
“And I know you and love you the best.”

“For I am gentle and lowly in heart,
On Me you can cast all your care,”
“I will be your Wonderful Counselor,
Who will love you and always be there.”

Faster

God is faster
Than lightning,
Than the sum
Of all light years,
But what He runs
Even faster to,
Is to comfort a saint’s
Anguished tears.

Real, Near

God is real,
God is near,
He hears your cry,
He sees each tear.
God knows,
God understands,
He holds your life,
Safely in His hands.
God came,
God saves,
He calms the storms,
He stills the waves.
God entered in,
God felt pain,
His precious blood,
Removes our stain.

Exactly as Planned

The wealthiest, wisest Man,
Who ever walked the earth,
Was born in a borrowed stable,
Laid in straw at His royal birth.

But the bright angelic choir,
Knew the wonder of what God had done,
The rescue God planned before time began,
Was set in motion by the birth of His Son.
