To Be Emmanuel

So many live as captives to fear,
In a broken world that needs to hear,
That God is with them and God is near,
He is Emmanuel.

For this world is dying we can see its decay,
But we can change someone’s night to day,
All it takes is for us to be bold and say,
He is Emmanuel.

For God so loved  the world of mankind,
That He came down from heaven to seek, save and find,
And now God and man are forever entwined,
He is Emmanuel.

For He died, rose again and now reigns on high,
Believe even though it’s a mystery why,
Christ would suffer the cross and for sinners would die,
To be Emmanuel.

To See and Hear

We don’t need lightning bolt flashes of truth,
But God’s Word to enlighten our way,
For His Word is a lamp and light to our path,
To keep us from going astray,

We don’t need to hear things novel and new,
To tickle our itching ear,
But Jesus, His life, death and rising again,
It’s the gospel of Christ we must hear.

Need / Need Met

Need

You are good
In every way
In thought
In word
In deed
And when we love
And follow You
You satisfy
Our need.

Need  Met

Nothing is beyond You,
Nothing is above,
You met us in our deep, dark need,
And died to show Your love.

Clay / Dust

Clay

I’m a poor weak foolish vessel,
A broken jar fashioned out of clay,
That God in His infinite mercy and grace,
Is patiently teaching His way.

Dust

We the ransomed and redeemed of the Lord,
Who in God place faith and trust,
Are earthen vessels, jars of clay,
Precious children and dearly loved dust.

Shalom Israel

God says pray for the peace of Israel,
But not just for their physical border,
That their hearts would receive the Prince of Peace,
Who alone gives shalom and brings order.

Pledge of Allegiance / Vacation or Vocation?

Pledge of Allegiance

I owe my existence
And allegiance to One,
Who died on a cross
To make a rebel His son.

Vacation or Vocation?

God did not call us on this earth
To live life a permanent vacation,
We are called to be light to a darkened world,
Ambassadors of Christ our vocation.

Through Different Eyes

Icy stares.
Piercing, judging, condemning.
Showing no mercy.

Loving eyes.
Considerate, compassionate, affectionate.
Seeing the need.

Hostile thoughts.
Unpleasant, unkind, ungracious.
Refusing to see.

Crying eyes.
Sin, shame, guilt.
Looking for hope.

Tender words.
Repentance, acceptance, deliverance.
Healing the soul.

Overflowing joy.
Master, Savior, Friend.
Abundant life found.
