Faith Well Placed

Don’t put your faith
Don’t place your trust,
In a son of Adam
Whose end is dust,
Or in earthly treasures
That corrode and rust,
Nor this broken world
With it’s lies and lust.

But put your hope
In Christ the King,
Who left His throne
To feel deaths sting,
And rose the third day
New life to bring,
And now reigns on high
Rejoice and sing!

MT 2019

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NKJV

[3] For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, [4] and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

Gain

The Prince of Peace
Did not suffer in vain
He traded earthly pain
For Eternal gain
While the Lamb of God
On the cross was slain
Now Judah’s Lion
Has ascended to reign.

MT 2019

Revelation 5:5 NKJV
[5] But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

On Display

Precious beyond
All earthly compare
The blood my God shed
Saved man from despair
To release Satan’s prisoners
Who were held in cruel sway
At the cross won the victory
Ushered in a new day
One day lion with lamb
Will frolic and play
And a child will lead them
God’s shalom on display.

MT 2018

NKJV  Rom 16:20  And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Even Though

They scorned Him, mocked Him, called Him names,
And did not believe His works or claims,
As He raised the dead and gave sight to the blind,
And was merciful, gracious, good and kind,
Though they deemed Him deserving of a cruel death,
He forgave their hated with His dying breath,
For they knew not the gravity of what they had done,
By killing God’s precious and dearly loved Son,
But to all who draw near with a repentant heart,
He gives abundant mercy, and a brand-new start.

NKJV  1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

So…

He knew He would have to take,
Our wretchedness and sin,
Upon His sinless body,
So that we could enter in,
To His Father’s holy presence,
So He gave us day for night,
And let darkness fall upon Himself,
So that we could be clothed with His light.

To Be Emmanuel

So many live as captives to fear,
In a broken world that needs to hear,
That God is with them and God is near,
He is Emmanuel.

For this world is dying we can see its decay,
But we can change someone’s night to day,
All it takes is for us to be bold and say,
He is Emmanuel.

For God so loved  the world of mankind,
That He came down from heaven to seek, save and find,
And now God and man are forever entwined,
He is Emmanuel.

For He died, rose again and now reigns on high,
Believe even though it’s a mystery why,
Christ would suffer the cross and for sinners would die,
To be Emmanuel.

Black and Blue / Walk

Black and Blue

Piercing nails and crown of thorns,
The flesh torn from His back,
The Father could endure no more,
And turned the blue sky black.

Walk

Christ delivered us out of darkness,
Into His marvelous light,
And what He asks us in return,
Is walk by faith and not sight.
