When once God and man were at enmity
Divinity has now kissed humanity
God in man such a wonderful mystery
Man embraced by the love of the Trinity
Bondage broken we’re freed from captivity
Taken back from the hand of the enemy

The Master had preached about servant hood,
That for righteousness they should all thirst,
While those at the table were quarreling,
About glory and who would be first.
They thought He would ring in the kingdom,
Through force and a mighty right hand,
But He gave them much more to think about,
While He taught them of God’s holy plan.
God lavishes love on His children
And every spiritual blessing in Christ,
To turn us away from this sinful world
By which we’re so easily enticed.
We love You because You first loved us
And died for our sin, guilt and shame,
In Your holy Word we will ever trust
And Your glory forever proclaim.
