Man of Sorrows
Well-acquainted with grief
Sinless and faultless
Yet condemned like a thief.
Changed human history
Though His time on earth brief
Mends broken hearts
From sin brings relief.

Sometimes I wish I was something more,
Like a rook or bishop or knight,
A piece that strikes fear in the enemies heart,
One that puts the enemy to flight.
But God calls both the high and low,
To do battle in the cosmic fight,
And now I see in Gods economy,
My wishes are not quite right.
For God can use the lowliest piece,
As an instrument of His eternal plan,
For He meets every move and counter-move,
And the board is in God’s mighty hand.
For the Lord is the great and true Mastermind,
Satan’s schemes the King can frustrate,
For He can use the lowly pawn,
To perfect His eternal checkmate.

In my best state my life is a vapor,
Fragile like paper thin glass,
In my best state I’ll fade like a flower,
When the last breeze of life makes it’s pass,
But when this corruptible body,
Has felt the last beat of it’s heart,
My new body created in the likeness of Christ.
Will have a glorious, eternal restart!

Meekness does not mean weakness,
And humility does not mean retreat,
It means we patiently stand our ground,
Even faced with apparent defeat.
For our hearts and lives should be fearless,
When channeled for the Master’s use,
Harmless as doves in the Savior’s hand;
Bold as lions when He turns us loose!

For the mercy of God met His justice,
And neither could be set aside.
But the Father’s mercy triumphed in Christ,

What if the diverse beauty we see,
Did not happen by random chance?
And the stars in this vast, grand universe,
Are a beautifully choreographed dance?
What if a Creator truly exists,
Who made you and knows your life story?
And died in the place of the human race,
And rose again to reveal His glory?
What if He offers an eternal choice,
That determines where you’ll live forever?
A place of unspeakable love and shalom,
Which nothing can lessen or sever.

Don’t put your faith
Don’t place your trust,
In a son of Adam
Whose end is dust,
Or in earthly treasures
That corrode and rust,
Nor this broken world
With it’s lies and lust.
But put your hope
In Christ the King,
Who left His throne
To feel deaths sting,
And rose the third day
New life to bring,
And now reigns on high
Rejoice and sing!
