Serenading the King

In God's Glory, love, Praise and Worship, Salvation

Born of a virgin in a borrowed stall,
No earthly advantage at birth,
Lowly Shepherds greeted the infant King,
When the Holy One came to earth.

But angels marveled as God became flesh,
Serenading the newly born King.
As Jesus took His first full breath,
The heavens of heavens would ring.

For the heavenly host could not contain,
The wonder and joy of the news,
The Child asleep in a manger that night,
Was Messiah and King of the Jews.

For many years
I lived under God’s wrath,
Then I met Jesus Christ
And He showed me the path,
From the road to perdition
To the streets of gold,
And in the book of life
My name is enrolled.

Expectation

I see Your beautiful handiwork
In Your glorious diverse creation
And Your amazing love and abundant grace
In Your wonderful gift of salvation
And one day all will praise Your name
Every tribe, tongue, people and nation
So may we be ready at the trumpet sound
Filled with faith, hope and great expectation.

Yet condemned like a thief.

Though His time on earth brief
Mends broken hearts
From sin brings relief.

Checkmate

Sometimes I wish I was something more,
Like a rook or bishop or knight,
A piece that strikes fear in the enemies heart,
One that puts the enemy to flight.

But God calls both the high and low,
To do battle in the cosmic fight,
And now I see in Gods economy,
My wishes are not quite right.

For God can use the lowliest piece,
As an instrument of His eternal plan,
For He meets every move and counter-move,
And the board is in God’s mighty hand.

For the Lord is the great and true Mastermind,
Satan’s schemes the King can frustrate,
For He can use the lowly pawn,
To perfect His eternal checkmate.

Shining in deepest darkness,
Piercing through darkest night,
Jesus the King of glory,
Jesus the Lord of light.

Jesus the Alpha-Omega,
Jesus the true God-Man,
Jesus the Lion of Judah,
Who arose out of Israel’s clan.

Jesus God’s One and Only,
Jesus God’s holy Son,
Jesus the Kinsman Redeemer,
Who makes Jew and Gentile one.
